Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) · Research ProgressOptics industryPicksAI score6363 HMI, a spaceborne high-precision greenhouse gas imager developed by AIOFM, returns first on-orbit data
The spaceborne High-precision Main Greenhouse gas Imaging instrument (HMI) aboard the Pujiang-4 satellite began imaging on September 27 and downlinked its first data. The developer team led by Xiong Wei at the Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) performed a preliminary assessment and found that the payload's functions and performance met design requirements. HMI uses an information modulation technique combining spatial imaging and spectral interferometry, acquiring hyperspectral data in a 520 km orbit with a 30 km swath, spatial resolution better than 400 m, and spectral resolution better than 0.125 nm. From the first data, the team preliminarily estimated the methane emission rate of the Bogatyr open-pit mine in Kazakhstan at about 27.52±1.70 tons per hour.
Why we recommend it: The original article gives HMI's swath, spatial resolution and spectral resolution, and uses first data to estimate methane emissions from a mining area, showing the on-orbit performance of the combined spatial imaging and spectral interferometry approach

Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (AIOFM) · Research ProgressOptics industryOptics and AIAI score3939 AIOFM Develops Digital Hydrogel Fluorescence-Enhanced Microsphere System for Amplification-Free Relative Quantification of CRISPR Nucleic Acids
The Optoelectronics Center of the Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics published a paper in Analytical Chemistry describing CrisprDEM, a digital hydrogel fluorescence-enhanced microsphere detection system based on CRISPR/Cas12a that enables amplification-free relative quantification of nucleic acids. The system uses hydrogel microspheres to enrich fluorescent reporter molecules, boosting the fluorescence signal by a factor of about 1,000. A microfluidic chip then spreads the microspheres into a monolayer for imaging, and a K-means algorithm distinguishes positive from negative microspheres, with the proportion of positive microspheres used for quantification.

Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP) · Research ProgressOptics industryAI score4949 Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics Achieves Multidimensional Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging in the Second Near-Infrared Window with Yb3+ Energy-Relay Hierarchical Lanthanide Nanoparticles
A team led by Researcher Chang Yulei at the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics published a paper in Advanced Materials proposing Yb3+ energy-relay-based hierarchical lanthanide nanostructures that tune ion luminescence lifetimes across 1060-2050 nm. In a Tm3+ system, for example, the lifetime can be continuously tuned from 654 us to 11918 us while the emission intensity at 1850 nm remains essentially unchanged. The team built its own time-gated imaging system based on an MCT short-wave infrared detector, simultaneously distinguishing six targets in mice with inter-channel crosstalk below 10%.

Ruier Mingkang (Zhejiang) Medical Technology Co., Ltd. has launched the DF600 series, China's first fully domestic laser fundus camera. Using a laser as its sole light source combined with confocal pinhole technology, the device enables layered imaging of the fundus. Its minimum imaging field reaches 130 degrees, while intelligent stitching covers up to 260 degrees. It requires only a 2 mm pupil without dilation, captures images in 0.1 seconds, and features built-in proprietary AI algorithms that identify the optic disc, blood vessels, macula, and hemorrhage spots without an internet connection. The DF600 has been deployed in endocrinology, health screening, emergency care, and other settings.
